WOFFF19 LINE UP

Our fifth festival is packed with feature films, short films, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, a lecture, a panel event, and loads of networking opportunities. Our gala opening film is Late Night with Emma Thompson, over Saturday and Sunday WOFFF presents eight programmes of 51 international short films and we close WOFFF19 with the dark Icelandic comedy Woman at War, starring Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir. FRIDAY 20 SEPT | 20:30 | OPENING NIGHT FILM - LATE NIGHT

A late-night talk show host’s world is shaken and stirred when she hires her first and only female staff writer. Emma Thompson stars as Katherine Newbury spinning the plates of ambition, friendship, marriage, sisterhood, the menopause, love and loss in a way that’s sure to resonate with many in the WOFFF audience.

SUNDAY 22 SEPT | 20:30 | CLOSING NIGHT FILM - WOMAN AT WAR

To her friends, Halla (Halldóra Geirharõsdóttir) leads a quiet, routine life. But her happy, upbeat exterior hides a secret double life as a committed environmental activist. Known to others only by her alias ‘The Mountain Woman’, she wages a one-woman-war on the local aluminium industry to protect the stunning highland landscape that is under threat.

WOFFF19’S HOME

We’re delighted to be returning to Depot in Lewes, East Sussex. Depot is an independent cinema with café restaurant, bar, education room and editing suite. There’s a beautiful garden too – perfect for the WOFFF September evenings. WOFFF Festival Director, Nuala O’Sullivan says, “It’s great to be continuing the partnership WOFFF and Depot began last year. Depot is an amazing state-of-the-art venue and our filmmakers and audiences loved being here last year.”
