WOFFF at Depot is taking place on Saturday 23 September, and you can get your tickets now by visit the Depot website.
The WOFFF Online programme is split into eight blocks, each connected by a unifying theme. This means if you like the sound of a particular theme, you could buy a ticket only for the blocks that capture your attention.
This year our programme blocks are:
- Animal Magic: with birds, butterflies, cats, dogs, cows and one surprising creature to catch you unawares, these shorts look at our animal friends up close and personal.
- Family: some of us have biological families, and some of us have logical ones. Tales of our tribes and clans and the blood, promises, and feuds that bind us.
- Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose: a film made from an old film, a woman returns to work again during retirement, another secretly collects bottles for the deposit money. Stories of life’s cycles and life’s turns and our place within them.
- Bodies and Souls: bodies in flight, hearts in love, minds in menopause and a soul on its way with the one prayer that’s needed. Films that examine every part of who we are – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
- The Time and Space We Need: Korean “comfort women” in Japan in World War II, a lone worker floating in space in the near future, a teacher in Hawaii, and a dancing duo in the Bronx feature in these stories of time and place.
- Play, Pause, Rewind, Eject: films inspired by the cassette player. Tales we tell ourselves, moments we pause, patterns we repeat and tracks we can’t bear to listen to ever again.
- Power: a TV presenter fights racism and sexism in the world of American soccer, a grandmother discovers her superpower and a corkscrew summons up the courage to rescue some lightning bugs. Unlock your inner Wonder Woman with these stories of unexpected grit and determination.
- See Me: You can glance at me, you can watch me, you can look at me, but do you see me? Films that demand we look, really look, at the people in them and see them as they truly are.
