Over ten years spotlighting women over 50 on both sides of the camera.
Since 2015, the Women Over 50 Film Festival has been celebrating older women on screen and behind the camera. Each year, we’ve welcomed audiences from around the world to discover bold, brilliant short films that centre women over 50. On this page, you can explore highlights from every edition of WOFFF, from our very first screenings in Brighton to our hybrid festivals today.
In 2015 we held our first prototype festival, Short Hot Flush. We screened 27 international short films, hosted a panel event and awarded prizes for the top four films. Read more here.
In 2016 we screened 44 international short films, hosted an all-female panel event and a beginners’ filmmaking workshop, as well as awarded prizes for the top five films.
In our 2017 festival, we screened 55 international short films, hosted an all-female panel event and 8 workshops, along with awards for the top films, including an Audience Choice Award.

WOFFF18 saw us in our new home at Depot, Lewes in East Sussex, after a launch event in Britain’s oldest cinema, The Duke of York’s Picturehouse.

WOFFF20 was an entirely online festival. The outbreak of COVID-19 couldn’t stop WOFFF from screening 58 short films and hosting 8 filmmaker Q&As.

WOFFF21 was in Depot and online. Online we screened 57 short films from around the world and at Depot a curated selection of 25.
WOFFF22 was in Depot and online. Online we screened 53 short films with a curated selection at Depot.
WOFFF23 was in Depot and online, we screened 56 short films by and about women over 50, with a curated selection at Depot.
2024
WOFFF24 was in Depot and online. For our 10th edition we welcomed Thelma Barlow to Depot where we screened a Online we screened a curated selection of 22 films, online viewers enjoyed 55 short films from around the world.
