Thousands choose dementia-friendly films on Virgin Atlantic

We’re thrilled to share an incredible milestone in our partnership with Virgin Atlantic: since launching in June 2024, the dementia-friendly short films from the Women Over 50 Film Festival (WOFFF) have been viewed an astonishing 42,874 times by passengers travelling around the globe.

This exciting achievement demonstrates the power of inclusive cinema and its ability to touch lives, no matter where we are.

A Groundbreaking Collaboration

Our partnership between Virgin Atlantic and WOFFF marked a significant step forward in creating a more inclusive travel experience for passengers living with dementia and their carers. The films, selected in collaboration with Carers UK, provide a soothing and engaging inflight entertainment option designed to be enjoyed by everyone. From gentle animations to calming dance performances, the selection is crafted to captivate and comfort.

Nuala O’Sullivan, founder of WOFFF, shared her excitement about the programme’s success: “We’re absolutely delighted to see such a positive response to this collaboration with Virgin Atlantic. It’s fantastic to know that thousands of people have experienced these films that celebrate older women while offering a calming and inclusive inflight entertainment option for those living with dementia.”

WOFFF has always been dedicated to showcasing fun, fearless, and real stories made by and about older women. This partnership, which includes films previously screened at our festival, reinforces the importance of representation and inclusivity in cinema. One of a kind

Virgin Atlantic’s dementia-friendly programme is thought to be the first of its kind in inflight entertainment. It’s part of the airline’s broader mission to ensure everyone can enjoy the magic of travel. With nearly 43,000 views already, this initiative is making a tangible difference in the lives of passengers worldwide.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of this pioneering collaboration and look forward to continuing to celebrate older women’s stories and create inclusive spaces in the cinema and beyond.
