Submit your short script to WOFFF25

We’re happy to announce that the Women Over 50 Film Festival’s Short Script Competition in partnership with Shedunnit is officially open for entries!

Whether you’ve got a fresh idea that’s been bubbling away in the background or a nearly-there concept that needs a final polish, now’s your chance to submit your work and be part of WOFFF’s celebration of stories by and about older women.

All entries must go via our FilmFreeway page.

A winning partnership

We’re thrilled to once again have the support and expertise of Helen Jacey, author and Founder of Shedunnit which sponsors our Best Short Script Prize.

Helen says, “It’s a delight and privilege to sponsor the script competition for the seventh time. Over the years, the judges and I have been astounded by the quality writing and amazing imaginations of writers from all over the world. Writing a short script sounds easy, but it’s not! Less is certainly more in terms of the focus needed, sharp writing skills, a strong concept and of course, a brilliant memorable character.”

As author of The Woman in the Story: Writing Memorable Female Characters (2nd edition, Michael Wiese Productions), and a renowned story consultant, Helen has worked with writers all over the world on developing their screenplays. Helen defines the key elements that make a WOFFF script entry stand out:

• A complex, memorable character
• A powerful, thought-provoking concept
• Vitality in the writer’s voice
• A sense of momentum in the storytelling

Helen adds, “Short scripts can be incredibly fun and rewarding to write, so whether you have an original idea that’s been brewing for a while, or a concept that you have developed and just needs a polish, we encourage you to consider submitting to WOFFF’s Best Short Script Prize.”

Please check the competition T&C’s on our FilmFreeway page to make sure your script is eligible.
