Dessert Hearts
We co-screened this lesbian romantic classic with our friends at Eyes Wide Open Cinema on 27 September.
Eyes Wide Open Cinema teamed up with the University of Sussex’s Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence and Centre for American Studies, and hosted a season of pioneering American queer cinema at Fabrica Gallery, beginning with Donna Deitch’s landmark 1985 drama Desert Hearts.
The film had closed captions (English subtitles especially for D/deaf or hard of hearing attendees) and the event had British Sign Language interpretation.
Five LGBT+ shorts

In partnership with the ELOP (East London Out Project) we showed five short WOFFF films celebrating older LGBT+ women in front of and behind the camera. We also hosted a Q&A with Nuala, the WOFFF director, and two WOFFF film makers, Bonnie Rae Brickman (Editor, BOOTWMN) and Jac Nunns (Director, Female Masculinity Appreciation Society).
Fundraising for LGBT+ Elder charity Opening Doors
Our second Pride screening was a fundraiser, in partnership with Norton Rose Fulbright, for the LGBT+ charity Opening Doors – the largest charity providing support services for older LGBT people in London. We hosted an evening of films by and about older LGBT+ women – the hilarious, older, lesbian comedy Cloudburst and WOFFF short film BOOTWMN.
