WOFFF24 – our 10th edition – is open for submissions

We’re open for submissions for the Women Over 50 Film Festival 2024 – our 10th edition of the Festival!

Send us your fun, fearless and real films that celebrate, spotlight and share stories by or about women over 50.

WOFFF is a qualifying festival for the British Independent Film Awards, meaning if your short film is accepted by us, it is one step closer to being considered for the British Independent Film Awards.

What films can be submitted to WOFFF?

First of all, we’re looking for short films by or about women over 50. This means your film has to have a woman over 50 at its centre or a woman over 50 in the core creative team, i.e. as a writer, producer or director.

What genres can be submitted to WOFFF?

Animation up to 12 minutes
Experimental up to 12 minutes
Drama (including comedy) up to 20 minutes
Documentary up to 25 minutes

Who can submit films to WOFFF?

Anyone, of any age and any gender.

How much does it cost to submit to WOFFF?

To submit your film to WOFFF we charge fee depending on when you submit. If you are a student filmmaker you can submit your film for free.

The Early Bird Fee is £20 or around $23, the Early Bird deadline is Tuesday 9 January 2024.

The Regular submission fee is £22 or around $28, the Regular deadline is Monday 22 April 2024.

The Late submission fee is £27 or around $34, the Late deadline is Tuesday 25 June 2024.

Does WOFFF accept short scripts?

Yes, we accept short scripts. We’ll announce the call out for short scripts in spring 2024.

When is WOFFF24?

Our festival is a hybrid festival, taking place both online and in person.

Our online Festival will be a fun, fearless and real programme of short films, shown online, around the world from Saturday 7 September – Monday 7 October 2024.

Our in person Festival is one day at Depot, Lewes in East Sussex, featuring a smaller, curated selection from the online programme shown to audiences on Saturday 21 September 2024.
